Folk Lore Festival 2025

Folk Star Arts Academy was first established in November of 2019 and is a non-profit association based here in Surrey, BC. We teach traditional Punjabi Folk dances which include Bhangra, Giddha, and Luddi. We also teach Music through Dhol (drums) and singing. Our Founders of Folk Star all have a passion for dance and keeping the Punjabi culture alive through the generations to follow. At Folk Star, we keep our students educated and in touch with their roots and history.

Alongside this, we aim to connect with various other communities through our FolkLore celebration. Through dance, we invite various different groups from all throughout the lower mainland to engage in cultural exchange and cross collaboration through the facet of dance! With our own performances we will be featuring performers as well, and they will get a stage to be able to describe the history and cultural significance behind their own dances.

FolkLore Festival is our event that we host each year at the end of our summer camp sessions to display all our students and their hard work. It is a way for us to bring together our students, our families, our friends, and our entire community. We invite guest performers to share and collaborate their dances and cultures with us too. For us, it is a way to build confidence and more passion in our young dancers.

We extend our humble invitation to you at Bell Performing Arts Center on September 14, 2025, and it would be our utmost pleasure to see you there! 

There are no refunds or exchanges on tickets. (If the performance is rescheduled, tickets will be valid for the rescheduled date or refunded at the discretion of the promoter.)

All patrons over the age of 1 year old must have a ticket in order to enter the auditorium.
